European Comision and National Agency (SMPF) under Life long learning programme for 2011-2013 years has resoursed the international bilateral project ,,United stories for Europe".

Vydmantai secondary school ( Lithuania) and Escola Sá de Miranda (Portugal) take part in this project. The contact person of this project is Simona Brazdeikienė and the other members of this iniciative group are English teachers: Eglė Paulikienė, Asta Šmaižienė and Adelija Dalangauskienė.

The project will focus on the discovering a common European cultural identity through comparison of folklore, more specifically those popular folk tales and traditional festivities, which express a community's way of life.

The participants of each country will seek to tackle its folkloristic identity from a historic and oral traditions perspective, whilst also going into present day customs and other festivities, some of which are common, and others that are particular to each one of the participating countries.

On 9 – 11 December 2011 the first meeting of the coordinators took place in Vydmantai secondary school, Lithuania. The partners from Portugal and the students and teachers of our school had a meeting to discuss the features of the Advent period in both countries. We found out a lot of interesting facts about the educational system and the features of learning in Portugal. Our students were interested in the traditions of this country and told our guests stories about Vydmantai, Kretinga and Lithuania.

In the afternoon we took our guests to Kretinga to show them the church and its catacombs, the town museum and winter garden. In the evening we walked together in the historic old town of Klaipeda, saw Palanga and tried Lithuanian food. After having discussed future plans and operations, we parted with our guests till the February meeting to be held in Portugal.
